It’s held on the Sunday of each race weekend starting at 8:00 am for a total of 70.6 miles.

The course is a challenging one that offers plenty of depth when it comes to elevation, flats, small town runs, and gorgeous countryside.

Swim – Door County Half Ironman

The swim is a 1.2-mile swim that can vary from year to year as far as difficulty. I’ve seen the waters flat and crystal clear and I’ve experienced them with 2-3 foot rollers. You really never know what you’ll get until the morning of the race, so prepare for everything. However, don’t let that worry you as the race is well organized and safe from start to finish. Lastly, the water can be cooler so keep an eye if you’re looking to wear a wetsuit.

Bike – Door County Half Ironman

The bike is a great fast 56.3-mile ride from Frank Murphy Park that runs along the shores of Green Bay South to Sturgeon Bay. Here you’ll see the bay peak through the beautifully wooded forest shorelines until you reach Sturgeon Bay. From there your ride East to some beautiful Door County Farmland. Here you’ll find rolling hills to keep your speed and momentum going. Lastly, you circle back and head back North to Frank Murphy Park. Be sure to conserve enough energy as it is a slight incline for your final few miles.

Run – Door County Half Ironman

The Door County Half Ironman event finished with a run that heads out North of the transition area towards Egg Harbor. This can be a hot stretch the first few miles, so be sure to get your bearings straight. As you head along towards town you’ll be welcomed with much-needed shade and thousands of spectators as you run right through town. The 13.1-mile course is a single loop course, giving you a tour of Door county’s quaint towns.

As you leave town you double back going south until you reach the infamous Bluff Pass Road a 200-foot climb over a 1/2mile section. If you have some time take a drive up it to see if it will be a challenge for you. It does occur around mile 9 so be sure to plan accordingly. As you finish the last 3-4 miles of the race you’ll be running through the stacked fences of Horseshoe Bay Golf Course before you descend back down to the finish line.
